Why Do I Write?

Every writer has a reason to out pen to paper, or finger to keyboard. For me there are a few of those reasons. The largest one by far is the overwhelming desire to share what I have created with the rest of the world. Mekebe and its many residents have been a massive part of my life for years, and since I was young I have dreamed about letting others see the true scope of these stories.

The largest one by far is the overwhelming desire to share what I have created with the rest of the world. Mekebe and its many residents have been a massive part of my life for years, and since I was young I have dreamed about letting others see the true scope of these stories.

If I had to pick a single moment from my life that really solidified my desire to become an author it would have to be a moment from my junior year of college, when I had started writing my first novel Urban Monarchs, I was discussing my current manuscript as well as my favorite books with a close friend of mine. The conversation became an hour long rant by my friend about his several favorite book series. I can vividly remember the love and awe in his eyes and voice as he discussed these series and the impact that the had on him. He remembered the characters as if he knew them and the plot lines like he was there. While I was listening to him passionately rant about these books I had a realization that he was projecting exactly the kind of emotions that I would love nothing more than to give other people when they read my writing.
